Latin Name Common Name Description
Taxodium Distichum Deciduous or Swamp Cypress Large tree up to 35m.  Grass green foliage turning brownish / yellow in autumn. Likes wet areas.
Taxus Baccata Common or English Yew Large tree up to 28m. Rich green foliage and red berries. Frequently found in churchyards throughout the UK. Needs good drainage.
Taxus Baccata Dovastonii Aurea Small elegant tree with striking yellow margined foliage.
Taxus Baccata ‘Aurea’ Golden Yew Large shrub or small tree of compact form. Golden yellow foliage turning to green after 2nd year.
Taxus Baccata Fastigiata Aurea Small tree of columnar habit. Young foliage is a deep yellow.
Taxus Baccata Fastigiata Irish Yew Small tree of columnar habit. Black / green foliage.
Thuja Plicata Western Red Cedar Large tree up to 40m. Shiny flat foliage, with a pungent fruity aroma when crushed. Excellent for hedging.
Thuja Plicata Atrovirens Similar to true Plicata this form has glossy green foliage.
Thuja Plicata Fastigiata Tall growing columnar form of the Western Red Cedar.
Tilia Cordata Small Leafed Lime Large tree up to 38m,of roughly conical shape. Small leaves of a distinctive heart shape, with star-like ivory coloured scented flowers.
Tilia Cordata Green Spire Similar to the true Cordata form, but with a narrower conical habit.
Tilia Tomentosa Petiolaris Weeping Silver or Silver Pendant Lime Large tree up to 34m of round head habit, with elegant downward sweeping branches. Long stalked leaves dark green above, downy white underneath. Scented flowers.  Narcotic to Bees.
Tilia Platyphyllos Fastigiata aka. Pyramidalis Large tree up to 32m, upright conical form. Broad heart shaped leaves. Flowers late June / early July.
Tilia Platyphyllos Broad Leafed Lime Large tree up to 32m of rounded habit. Broad heart shaped leaves. Flowers late June / early July.
Tilia Platyphyllos Rubra Red Twigged Lime Similar size and habit to Platyphyllos. Young shoots emerge brownish red, particularly striking in winter.
Tilia Tomentosa aka. Argentea Silver Lime Large tree up to 28m. Large dark green leaves, silvery white underneath. Flowers late July. Narcotic to Bees.
Tilia X Euchlora Caucasian Lime Medium tree up to 20m. Glossy green heart shaped leaves. Flowers are narcotic to Bees.
Tilia X Europaea Common Lime Large tree up to 46m. In the past one of the most commonly planted limes but not the best.
